About Angola, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Angola, Indiana is a city found in Steuben County, and it also serves as the county seat. Originally platted in 1838, Angola was incorporated as a town in 1866 and a city in 1906. Approximately 8,600 people call the community home, which is conveniently located near other major cities. Fort Wayne is only 43 miles south via I-69, while South Bend is only 80 miles west via I-80/I-90.
There are many wonderful things to see and do in Angola. Outdoor recreation is especially popular at Pokagon State Park and Lake James. The Angola Motor Speedway features a high-banked, 3/8 mile asphalt track and offers a family-friendly racing venue. The historical Brokaw Movie House was originally built in 1931, and recent renovations now include two movie screens equipped with surround sound and digital projectors. Downtown Angola has been the heart of the city for decades, and many special events are held here throughout the year. These include the Steuben County Farmers’ Market, the Art is Art Fest, and Music on the Square.
Angola residents should be prepared for varied weather conditions throughout the year. Winters can be especially dangerous, as frigid temperatures and moderate snowfall are common. Overnight lows tend to fall well below freezing, which could cause pipes and plumbing systems to freeze. Investing in an appropriate furnace is a necessity, as the right system can dramatically improve indoor comfort level, utility costs, and air flow. Newer models are also quieter than ever, allowing for comfortable indoor conditions without any unnecessary noise.
Summer weather in Angola can also be uncomfortable at times. Temperatures are hot and humidity levels are high. The right central air conditioner – specifically an Energy Star model – can help residents to beat the heat regardless of outdoor conditions. Plus, homeowners may be eligible for tax rebates and other cost savings.
